Interview Questions, Tips, & Experiences

    I'm continuing to hear more about authentic assessments in final interviews for building-level leadership positions. In the past, to evaluate thinking and writing skills, candidates would be asked to respond to case studies about school problems or educational issues. Increasingly, the task is to make presentations, lead a mini-professional development activity, etc. A candidate for an elementary assistant principal position was given the school's data, current schedule, and faculty roster. The task was to make recommendations to change the master schedule to increase student achievement and explain the rationale for the new plan to the interviewers!
